The Rise of eLearning in 2020

Due to the Coronavirus, the rise of eLearning in 2020 has accelerated dramatically throughout the year. But what does that mean for the future of the industry?

That’s why we thought we’d share with you this great article by the Editor at Chief Learning Officer, Ashley St. John. The Chief Learning Officer is a multimedia publication focused on the importance, benefits and advancements of a properly trained workforce, who’s award-winning content caters specifically to executives in the enterprise learning market.

Ashley’s article looks at the initial outlook for learning and development from their Business Intelligence Board’s ‘2020 Learning State of the Industry’ report.

The Chief Learning Officer Business Intelligence Board is a group of 1,500 professionals in the learning and development industry who have agreed to be surveyed by the Human Capital Media Research and Advisory Group, the research and advisory arm of Chief Learning Officer magazine.

Ashley said:

“The use of eLearning has been increasing for years, and it’s no surprise that the events of 2020 have accelerated this trend. Will this be just the beginning of an increasingly digital future? This calls into question just how important and powerful face-to-face human interaction is when it comes to learning and development — and life in general. It’s impossible to say for sure what happens next — from this summer to next year and well into the future. Learning executives have long acknowledged the importance of being agile and flexible in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous, or VUCA, world. This has never been more true, and while the immediate future likely won’t be comfortable, it will surely be a time to innovate and experiment.”
